Do you feel stuck? Are you treading water and just trying to keep juggling all your responsibilities while keeping your head above water? There were years in our family business that my sister-in-law used to say she felt like we had a tiger by the tail and that she was hanging on and had no idea how to let go and get off the ride. We were blessed to be in the fastest-growing county in the nation, and we were one of the only stores in town. We were growing despite ourselves, but we did not have a vision or plan for where we wanted to go. Our family was overwhelmed and just trying to survive, but we did not have good work, life balance.
How about you? Do you want to thrive this year, not just survive? Would you like to develop the habits you need to achieve your goals? It all starts with a vision. In his book “High Performance Habits,” Brendon Burchard teaches that clarity of who you are and what you want is a foundational piece of sustaining long-term success. You need a vision of the future to focus on, a picture of who you want to be and where you want to be. Without a clear vision of where you are going, you will get stuck in the day-to-day grind and wake up on Dec 31, 2021, and realize you survived another year, but you did not thrive.
Don’t wait to create a Vision for your business and your life.
How badly do you want to achieve the life and business of your dreams?
Once you create this Vision, you can use it to filter all of the decisions you make this year through it. You may think that creating a vision for your life is a waste of time, but it is not. Creating a compelling vision of the life you want and the business you want is one of the most effective strategies for achieving the life of your dreams. Think of it as a compass that will help guide you to take the best actions and make the right choices to get you to your best life.
Accept this challenge to sit down right now and answer these questions:
- If time and money were no object, what would you do/implement in your business?
- If time and money were no object, what would you do/change in your personal life?
- What is the most important thing in the world to you, and why?
- What is your ultimate dream for your business?
- Looking forward 3 years into the future, what does success look like in your business and personal life?
Now take these answers and allow yourself to dream of your life 3 to 5 years from now. Picture yourself in that future. Sit down and write out what that looks like and feels like. Use as many descriptive words as possible to make it so compelling that you cannot wait to get there. Do not worry about how you will get there; just let your dreams and desires out.

Our Vision is to help and serve independent retailers by providing them clarity into their business numbers and systems and to help them succeed in business and achieve the life they desire. Our dream is to be able to do this from the road. We purchased a motorhome and now look forward to running our company as we travel the USA.
Once your Vision is set, you need to make it a necessity to get there. Getting there has to be a “must” in your life, not just a preference.
